Chinese Leather Trunks have been used for many hundreds of years with the classic style changing very little. Made for travelling and storage of clothing they are robust work well in a contemporary western space as a coffee table, or for storage. Chinese leather trunks come in 4 colours; black, red, cream & aubergine.
This particular piece is aubergine and dates from the early £20th century. The colour is achieved by adding a coloured lacquer onto the tanned leather.
